Desi Wilkinson was a deeply talented musician widely known for his exceptional skills as a traditional Irish flute player. Born and raised in Belfast, Ireland, Desi played the flute from a young age. His lifelong passion and dedication to his craft led him to perform on various prestigious stages around the world. Desi also worked as a full-time lecturer and researcher, producing numerous recordings and publications over the course of his distinguished career, leaving a lasting impact on both music education and performance. Desi presented three engaging lectures on various aspects of Irish music and history, delivered in both English and French. The festival also featured a special concert with renowned Irish musicians Ronan Browne and Catherine McHugh, in collaboration with 'Gentilcorum' — a rich cultural exchange celebrating Celtic traditions through music, storytelling, and scholarship.

Desi joined the community for a weekend of traditional Irish music and song in Drogheda. On Saturday, November 22, he performed in concert alongside the acclaimed duo Zoë Conway and John McIntyre, bringing an evening of vibrant Irish tunes to a warm and welcoming setting.
